Welcome to the HD Revolution

Imagine my surprise when I walked in the house and saw a gigantic HD TV sitting in the livingroom! I never saw what the big deal was about HD TV. To me it was pretty much like watching things on a computer screen. When my parents turned it on I was blown away.

I didn’t know so much about HDTV. As it turns out, there are only 15 channels or so that are actually HD and widescreen. The other 200 are normal, though oftentimes graphics like news tickers are really sharp. Even with so few HD channels, there’s usually something interesting to watch on them, even if I have to lower my viewing standards a little. The National Geographic channel usually has something cool to watch. Right now, for example, there is a show about volcanoes. My documentary-watching rate must have gone up 6000% because of the HDTV. Still there are some things which i still won’t watch, like Sex and the City and Armageddon.

I told Kristin that’s what I want for Christmas, but I don’t think she’s going to get me one.
